I don’t know that I’ll ever fully understand the sense of urgency I feel around making music. Some sort of obligation I have to an unknown listener that I have no personal connection to. My motivation seems to be beyond something I can articulate, but it’s the part of my identity I feel the most confident in. When I am hit with inspiration to share my own feelings or the feelings of others, it comes out through music. Throughout the last decade of my life I’ve been fortunate enough to be trusted by filmmakers and brands to help bring their stories to life this way. I create from a very intuitive place — often feeling more like an explorer than a composer. So far it seems to be working out okay, but I don’t know that the urgency will be fading anytime soon. I’m learning to accept that.
